OTTAWA – Today NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh, announced the appointment of long-time Party activist Willy Blomme as his Chief of Staff.
Having previously worked on Jack Layton’s leadership campaign, Blomme first joined the NDP staff team in Ottawa as Layton’s speechwriter. In 2008 she moved on from that role, but remained very active in the NDP, playing key roles on numerous local and national campaigns.
After earning her PhD from John Hopkins University, and subsequently working there as an instructor, Blomme joined the Broadbent Institute as its Quebec Director in 2015 and has more recently taken on the role of Program Director at the Institute.
Less than a year ago, Blomme also managed the successful campaign of Valérie Plante for the leadership of Projet Montréal.
“I’m so excited to have Willy leading this incredible team here in Ottawa,” said Singh. “She has demonstrated a deep commitment towards building a more inclusive and just country, and we’re so lucky to have her wealth of experience to help us build towards forming the government Canada deserves in 2019.”
Blomme will complete her work at the Broadbent Institute over the next seven weeks before beginning her role as Chief of Staff in January. Read More
